A dead whale was found washed ashore on South Beach in Edgartown on Friday. Ainsley Smith, marine mammal stranding coordinator at the federal National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), said the carcass was a “very decomposed sperm whale” estimated to be over 40 feet long. Hospice to run 30th 5K road race »

The annual 5K race to benefit Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard, an event that usually draws hundreds of runners from the Island and beyond, will mark its 30th anniversary on Memorial Day weekend.
