It was rare to read a review that did not praise the staff in some way. Guest after guest reported that they found the whole staff, but especially those on reception duty, to be very friendly and more than willing to help when approached for information or to clear up an issue.

Guests really couldn't have been any happier about the value for money they received here. They mentioned that the room rates were very reasonable for a place in this part of Maine and that the standard of the accommodation was good for the price charged.

The vast majority of guests were quite satisfied with the complimentary breakfast offered every morning, saying that it was varied, tasty and served in sufficient quantities.

There were quite a few minor complaints about items that were not present that guests felt their rooms could really do with. Quite a number mentioned that a small microwave would really have gone a long way, and enabled them to prepare some snacks or reheat leftovers. Some were also surprised that their room did not have a hairdryer.

Quite a number of guests were unhappy with the comfort offered by the hotel's mattresses. They didn't typically go into details as to what the specific problem was, but there were perhaps a bit more complaints about uncomfortable beds than is typical in hotel reviews.

Many guests commented that the whole hotel, rooms and public areas alike, where looking dated and a bit frayed around the edges. In their view the hotel was past its due date for a full renovation.
